Equipment
Use the following items to perform a proper oral examination on an adult, infant, or child:
- Good light source
- Gloves
- Tongue blade
- Improves visualization
- Gauze
- Allows examiner to grasp and manipulate the tongue securely
- Helps remove plaque to properly examine gums and teeth
- Mouth mirror visualizes lingual surfaces of anterior teeth
- Useful for visualization, but is not necessary
